Normally aspirated Mercedes diesels with steel engine block and head are easily capable of going go a million miles and running on just about anything! Safe and strong. Mercedes was at the forefront of crash testing beginning in the 1950s. This indestructible all steel motor starts effortlessly. The car accelerates crisply, shifts smoothly, steers with agility and stops quickly. Surprisingly fast, I have driven her at comfortable cruising speed of 80 miles per hour.

This car performs well because of the manual shift and appropriate gearing to maximize speed and torque. It is certainly quicker than an automatic off the line and makes better use of the power once it is in motion. They are slightly lighter in weight and more fuel efficient than the US 300d. Miserly fuel consumption similar to a 240D with comparable performance to an American 300 turbo.

The car’s condition clearly defies it’s age. She is not a perfect show car and has few hard to find imperfections; chips, nicks, scratches and tiny cracks on dash.
